Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: Overall, a pleasant and unique stay. Mostly attributed to the surroundings. It is a bit remote, which is what we wanted - as well as its proximity to Uxmal and the cenotes near Homún. When we arrived, we were greeted by staff, assisting us in getting our luggage to our room. The common space is welcoming, with the guests rooms set back a short walk behind the cenote-style pool. We opted for the on-site dinner the night of our arrival - delicious local greens salad/roasted eggplant/goat cheese/candied walnuts. This was followed by perfectly cooked sea bass with mashed potatoes and caper sauce. Dessert was a lava cake with ice cream. Breakfast was delicious as well. We had the chance to chat with our hosts before dinner, and they were responsive when we had questions during our stay via WhatsApp.

Negative: While we appreciated the architectural aspects of the space, it was rather uncomfortable overall. Concrete benches and minimal wooden slat chairs on the patio were rather uncomfortable. Only a desk chair inside the room. Lighting in the bathroom area was quite dim. After our first day, our hosts were not present. Dinner option the second evening was the same protein as the night before. We were not given the option to dine inside or outside. Just outside. Bugs were relentless, and no offer of any repellent. There seemed to be walking paths around the property, a fire pit that was near another guest room, but no explanation as to what was open to guests to wander.

Summary: Love the concept, yet not quite what we expected in the end.
