- Our county cottage is off of an asphalt road with gravel infill with some low spots, especially when there’s been rain. (No mud in road, as asphalt is the bottom layer, just low spots where gravel infill has been placed to level the road but washes out.) A compact car can bottom out if you drive straight over the road. I can drive down in a low car as long as I “ride the humps” and go slow, but an SUV/ truck/ not a low car is recommended.
